Director N. Lingusamy one of the most successful commercial directors during the 2000s was sentenced to six months prison by the Saidapet court in a cheque case. He went for an appeal which was rejected by the courty that upheld its earlier order. Rumours started spreading on social media that the 56 year will be jailed soon.
Lingusamy in an official statement in Tamil has asserted that the issue is between PVP Capital and his Tirupathi Brothers Film Media companies. He has added that he will go for further appeal to the honorable court's sentence.
Lingusamy;s company in 2014 had apparently taken a loan of Rs 1 Crore 35 Lakhs from PVP Capital for the production of the Karthi and Samantha starrer 'Enni Yezhu Naal' which was later shelved. As the cheque he provided as security for the loan was returned due to insufficient funds in the bank, a case was filed in Saidapet court. After several hearings the court sentenced Lingusamy the signee of the cheque to six months in jail last year. He was also directed to repay the loan amount received from PVP along with interest for the nine odd years.
On the professional side Lingusamy is gearing up to direct 'Paiyaa 2' the sequel to his super hit movie 'Paiyaa' starring Karthi and Tamannaah released in 2010. The film will reportedly star Arya and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles.
