Superstar Rajnikanth who was last seen on screen in the Karthik Subbaraj directorial Petta, is now acting in his 167th movie Darbar which is directed by AR Murugadoss. Produced by Lyca Productions, Darbar had been shot mostly in Mumbai besides also in Rajasthan.

Darbar has cinematography by Santosh Sivan, who is working in a Superstar movie after Thalapathi, and often shares exciting posts about Rajnikanth's dedication in shoot. Recently, he had shared a photo of Rajnikanth, with the caption "The Mystery man in Darbar".

This has raised doubts on whether Superstar Rajnikanth will be seen in dual roles in Darbar, as it was initially said that he will be seen as a police officer and a social activist. It is to be seen if this speculation turns out to be true. Darbar also stars Lady Superstar Nayanthara and Nivetha Thomas.
