`Mynaa' is a forthcoming film produced by Shalom Studios that is in the news for good reasons. It has already moved the industry biggies like Kamal Haasan who said at the audio launch that he is happy to see Tamil cinema growing with films like `Mynaa'.

`Mynaa' is the love story of two young people who live in a tribal area and problems they encounter. Prabhu Solomon who directed films Kokki, Lee and Laadam has also directed this off beat movie.

The film stars new comers Vidharth of `Koothu Pattarai' and Anaka of `Sindhu Samaveli' fame in the lead roles.

Music is by D. Imman. Yugabharathi has written the lyrics. The audio of `Mynaa' was launched by `Ulaga Nayagan' Kamal Haasan on September 23 at Sathyam Cinemas.

The story is an off beat story and Imman had contradicted his reputation so far and has given very delightful thematic songs in `Mynaa'.

1. Mynaa Mynaa - Listen here

Singer: Shaan

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

The title tracks flows smoothly and rises in the second half. As a tribal love song the tune may sound often heard but the rhythmic movements save the song. The sudden tempo rise in the second half is the finest aspect of this song. Shaan is a good singer but he sings `manala viricha kayira' instead of `manala thiricha kayira' in one place. The support instrumentation says Imman is melodic for a change. A

2. Kichu Kichu Thaambulam - Listen here

Singers: Baby Harini, Solar Sai

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

Children talk childhood fantasy mischief in this song. A basic arrangement lets the story be told through. The children chorus is playfully peppy. The rise and fall of the vocals is clearly audible with instruments backing rightly. A bit of Rajasthani folk is also mixed. Instruments like shenai and kamayacha gives a distinct rural feel. The closing bit is also notable.

3. Neeyum Naanum - Listen here

Singers: Benny Dayal, Shreya Ghoshal

Lyricist: Eknaath

Mischievously attractive opening tell you what's inside. The romantic voices of Benny Dayal, Shreya Ghoshal have an enjoyable attitude in this song. Imman makes normal instruments sound big and different.

4. Jingu Chikka - Listen here

Singers: Solar Sai, Kalpana

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

Jingu Chikka is a gana kuthu with strong vocals. The very mischievous and rhythmic lyric borders vulgarity and may not be for family listening.

5. Kaiya Pudi - Listen here

Singers: Naresh Iyer, Sadhana Sargam

Lyricist: Yugabharathi

Pick of the pack! In this song there is good music, there is melody and there is harmony. Assorted rhythm and varied melodies together is a winning combo in this number. The orchestration is robust and the tune is memorable. Nicely lifted by the voices of Naresh Iyer, Sadhana Sargam.

On the whole as said earlier D. Imman has come out with songs which stand out. Given the jungle journey and tribal love as the plot, all the songs have that forest essence. Mood is what makes a song become popular and most songs in `Mynaa' are filled with a mood. If at all there is one thing which could have been handled better, that would be making the make singers sing with more feel of the dark soil. Although they are all great singers the male singers do sound a bit posh.

Otherwise a welcome album from D. Imman and this should take him to the next league above.
