Former Chief Minister O.Panneer Selvam's dreams of retaining the top political post looked like shattered when the Governor called in Edappadi Palaisamy and asked him to form the new Government.
Later in the evening. Palanisamy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and his Council of ministers took oath. OPS and former School Education Minister Mafoi Pandiarajan have been dropped from the Council of ministers as they have also been removed from the basic membership of the AIADMK party for revolting against the party high command, Sasikala.
But OPS has still not lost his hopes and he has vowed to remove the "family rule of Sasikala' from Tamil Nadu. His supporters include eight MLAs and ten MPs of the party.
At this juncture a good news has reached the stable of OPS in the form of the support of yet another MLA of the ruling party.
Yes, Mylapore MLA R.Natraj IAS has just now announced his support to OPS. He has said that he has taken this decision based on the feedback he received from the people of his constituency. He has said that he will be voting against Palanisam government even if that would attract anti-defection law and he loses his MLA post.
All the MLAs elected through the ADMK party ticket in the 2016 elections have been asked to be present in the Assembly tomorrow(February 18) for the vote of confidence. The Governor has asked Palanisamy to prove his majority in the Assembly within 15 days time and the party has decided to conduct the vote of confidence tomorrow itself.
In this context, Natraj`s support to OPS gains tremendous significance.
