'My Indian Boyfriend' is an upcoming cross-cultural romantic drama directed by Telugu man Sri Kishore, who has previously been associated with films such as 'Devi Sri Prasad' and 'Sasesham'. Kishore hails from Nalgonda.
Telling the story of how an Indian man and a Hong Kong Chinese woman fall in love, the Chinese film is all set to release in April. "I learned dancing at an acting institute in Hyderabad in the early 2000s. I got an opportunity as a dance teacher in Hong Kong, where Bollywood songs have a fan base. As a dance teacher, I wanted to earn some money and return to India. However, I continued to persist and married a Hong Kong woman after falling in love with her," Sri Kishore says.
He wanted to make a crossover film and came up with the idea of 'My Indian Boyfriend'. This is touted to be the first bilingual to be made in Cantonese and Hindi.
There are seven songs in total. "For the Chinese audience, songs are a new entertainment phenomenon," Kishore says.
The film will release on OTT in countries like India. "It was not easy to find a producer for the movie. Many in China and Hong Kong suspected my intentions. Two Chinese people who have known me for several years trusted me and came forward," Kishore adds.
