A day after her father Maruthi Rao reportedly committed suicide, Amrutha has spoken to the media and suggested that it might not be a case of suicide. "Since I have nothing against my father except for the reason he got my husband killed, I went to see his dead body today. But they (my relatives) didn't let me see his dead body," she began saying.
She alleged that her babai Shravan Kumar had beaten up her father twice in the past. "I believe that my father did commit suicide. At the same time, I don't think he is cowardly to commit suicide," she said somewhat confusingly.
"The media has interviewed Shravan. Did any of you see even a trace of pain on his face while he spoke with the media?" she asked. "Shravan used to tell me that my father will write off all his property in his name if I marry against his wishes," she claimed.
There are reports that Rao used to be a party to property disputes. "As far as I know, no properties have been registered in my name. I suspect that my mother faces a threat," she added.
It was Rao's last wish that Amrutha goes on to live with her mother. "I am ready to live with my mother if she accepts my decision to continue relations with my in-laws. I have made a decision to live with my late husband's parents and sibling," she said, attending the press meet with her little son, who was born after his dad was killed in September 2018 because he was a Dalit.
