- IndiaGlitz, [Wednesday,June 14 2017]
The star of Tamil movie industry who is debuting in Telugu for the first time with an adventurous fantasy comedy genre movie, Nikki Galrani is everything a director would want his actress to be.
Beautiful, Bold and Dynamic.
She is the heartthrob of many young men and is the fastest growing young actress in the movie industry. We got the chance to have a little chat with the beautiful actress and she happily obliged. Now, we sat down with the 24 year old and had a little chat about her upcoming flick Maragthamani, her life and everything in between. Without any further ado, let's get to it!
How are you doing today?
I'm doing great. I've been a bit busy, that's all.
So, tell us something about your new movie…
“Maragathamani in Telugu and Maragatha Naanayam in Tamil is an adventurous fantasy comedy thriller. A movie with so many genres, the director (A.R.K Saravan) put a lot of thought into and directed. It's definitely a movie that one will remember once they walk out of the theatre. That's for sure.”
What is your character in this movie?
“My character is suspense. I don't want to reveal it because it's so special and adds an important value to the script. We can say that the movie will be a little un-said if my character wasn't there. A role that an actress never took before. A very different role. So, I can say that my character turns out to be a big surprise.”
How was working with the team of Maragathamani?
“Everybody is so nice and wonderful to work with. They all are extremely understanding and easy to collaborate with. They all have been fantastic.”
Can you reveal bits and pieces about the movie?
“Um...The hero is in search of gemstones. He is a thief, so he looks for those kind of stones and sells them for money. He gets to know about a special stone, which is, Maragathamani and the story revolves around that concept. A treat for the audience I'd say.”
Soon, we took a little break and got to the interesting part of the interview. Her life.
Take us on your journey with the movie industry?
“Initially, I was a science geek and I only cared about my studies and aspired to be a doctor when I'd grow up. Soon, plans changed and I thought of acting as a field for myself. Initially, I only did Ad films and I completed 50-60 Ad films in just 10 Months which I feel proud of.”
She pauses and continues.
I was introduced to the movie industry 3 and a half years ago and I have done 25 films since. I am majorly involved with Tamil and Malayalam movies. Telugu is my first trial now and I hope this works out too. So, Yeah…3 and a half years. So far, so good“
You are from a movie background. Your sister Sanjjanaa Galrani too worked in the Industry and made it pretty big…Do you think that influence made it easy for you?
“That's the misconception people have about people who have some background in the industry. When you have such background, people think that everything becomes easy for you but that's not true. I have to work double-hard to prove that I am not just a spoilt-brat but a hardworking person.”
From that intense spiral of thoughts and a little chat about her life, we got to know about her hobbies, her lifestyle and more.
So, what do you do in your free time?
“I am usually working most of the time, given my busy and often hectic schedules, but when I'm free, I go to Banglore and chill with my parents. They are awesome people. I have two pet dogs and I miss them a lot when I'm working, so, when I go there, I try to spend as much time as possible with them too.”
Since, you go to Banglore, where the night life is pretty vibrant, do you party a lot?
“I do not party at all. I do not drink. I am so busy that I don't have time to do all that. But when I do get some time off, I try to just fly to Banglore and relax. That's one of the reasons why I don't have many friends. I am not a social-bee.”
So, let's talk about your fan-base…
(smiles) “Oh! Yes. Let's!”
Does it get crazy that you have so much following and people are die-hard fans of you?
'I'm only 24 and it's all a little hard to sink in but I do get a lot of love from them. They all have been very polite but some go to the extremes and follow me around for pictures, which is something that I'm not very comfortable with but overall, I am happy with my fans. They're all so nice and supportive, which is great'
So, what's your plan from here? What's next?
'I have a lot on my plate right now. I am currently working on 1 Malayalam movie and 4 Tamil movies. A couple of projects in Telugu too, which I'm trying to coordinate well with.' (laughs)
Do you have any set goals?
'I don't think I have to set goals' in order to feel accomplished. I take life as it comes, so I don't have any pre-determined set goals. Everything that has happened so far in my life is all because of the big plan' and I believe in that and I have faith. You just have to believe…”
Maragathamani will be in theatres from June 16th, 2017.
