Krishnam Raju's clue about who might have got Baahubali killed seems to be mostly true. Speaking during the pre-release event of 'Baahubali-2', the Rebel Star said that the Trailer throws up more than two hints about the force behind the assassination: Sivagami is the culprit, although she would never have done it normally.

A version doing the rounds about the suspense is this:

After falling love with the tribal girl Devasena (Anushka) and marrying her, Baahubali (Prabhas) decides to live the life of a tribal man in the forest as per her wishes. Bhallala Deva too encourages him to live such a life with an ulterior motive in mind.

In his lust for power, Bhallala Deva (Rana Daggubati), the piece's villain, continues to contaminate the Rajamata Sivagami's (Ramya Krishna) mind with canards about the ways of Baahubali, projecting him as a derelict and an immoral leader. He commits all sorts of atrocities on common folk through his evil forces.

Sivagami, who doesn't know about all this, blindly believes in his version about Baahubali being the one who is instigating the savage brutalities on hapless people.

There comes a day when Bhallala Deva decides to go the whole hog by eliminating Baahubali once and for all. In the defense of their beloved leader, Baahubali's cult followers stand up in thousands to the might of Bhallala's merciless army. Bhallala now becomes ruthless and misrepresents the affair to Sivagami, saying that Baahubali is the reason behind the anarchy.

Sivagami, an ethical Rajamata to whom the well-being of her people is of paramount importance, decrees the slave-warrior Kattappa (Sathyaraj) to get Baahubali's head if the need be. Kattappa, who has always been emotionally attached to the humble Baahubali, goes about grudgingly executing the decree with a heavy heart.

Even as Baahubali valiantly defends his people, Kattappa literally backstabs the former, bringing an era to an end.

A grieving Devasena now leaves for the palace to awaken Sivagami to the dangers around her. At this, the cruel and lecherous Bhallala Deva gets at her and incarcerates her. Sivagami still gets to know the truth and when Bhallala savagely rushes to kill the new-born son of Baahubali-Devasena, Sivagami makes a heroic escape from Mahismathi, killing herself in the process. (This is where the first part began)

'The Conclusion' will be about how the Junior Baahubali avenges this palace intrigue, even as the bloodthirsty Bhallala bays for his blood.
