Even though the Onam releases did make dismal business in the box office, some of them definitely carried very good songs. Films like Nivedyam and Ore Kadal are dominating the Malayalam music chart this fortnight with their delightful songs.

The top five Malayalam songs are:

1. Kolakuzhal - Film: Nivedyam Music: M. Jayachandran; Lyrics: Lohithadas; Singers: Vijay Yesudas and Swetha

The songs are high points of this film. This particular song is penned by Director Lohithadas himself and the song is a very enchanting love duet, which on its arrival itself tops the charts.

2. Yamuna- Film Ore Kadal Music Ouseppachan Lyrics Gireesh Puthenchery Singer -Shwetha

Some of the greatest composition heard in recent times, are in this film of which the particular song by Shwetha, is advisable for the feel it evokes and rendering touch of class. The backgrounds of the song are handled delicately with lyrics poignantly stating the soreness of a female’s fate.The song is sure to remain in Malayalee hearts for long.

3. Adimegha - Film: Alibhai Music: Alex Paul Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singer: M.G. Sreekumar.

This is a festive song composed by Alex Paul that has the feel of 90s to it. A type of adipoli song, for dance sequences shot on Lal and gang that take its root from many hits from the past. With faster beats and rendering, M.G. Sreekumar' himself have sung the same genre for many Lal films.

4. Tham Tharikida - Film: Nivedyam Music: M. Jayachandran; Lyrics: C.J. Kuttappan.

The song with a typical folkish beats proves the dancing skills of the new hero Vinumohan. The chorus work in the mukhda is in authentic folk fashion while Vijay Yesudas voices out the antaras in a different style than what we never heard from him.

5. Pranaysandhya - Film: Ore Kadal Music: Ouseppachan Lyrics Gireesh Puthenchery Singer: Bombay Jayashree

This is another best in the album, soulfully rendered by Bombay Jayashree, who makes a rare outing in Malayalam.
