Mass Raja Ravi Teja is set to enthrall movie enthusiasts with his upcoming film "Eagle," directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, slated for release on February 9, 2024. Renowned music director Davzand shares his experiences about working on "Eagle" and his journey in the music world.

Addressing your unique name, could you elaborate on it?

My original name is David Sandeep. I chose to rechristen myself for stylistic reasons, with no deeper significance. I have been a freelance musician.

How did you venture into the music world and the film industry?

Interestingly, actor Sree Vishnu and I were classmates, and my interest in music sparked during my tenth-grade years. I used to play the National Anthem at school and later freelanced for video games. I am a self-taught musician.

How did you become part of "Eagle," especially considering the challenge of getting a chance opposite top stars?

Ravi Teja Garu is an inspiring figure who generously supports newcomers. When director Karthik Gattamneni presented three tunes crafted for "Eagle," Ravi Teja was genuinely impressed. Karthik's understanding of how musical highs can elevate a scene resonated well. The hero himself appreciated the background score, bringing immense satisfaction.

Tell us about your tunes in "Eagle."

'Eagle' provided me with a vast canvas to experiment with, given its action thriller genre and mood. Songs like 'Gallanthe' (a Westernized love song with Shehnai), an English track ('Eagle's On His Way'), and others turned out exceptionally well. 'Aadu Macha' caters to the mass audience, but my personal favorite is 'Gallanthe' as it appeals to the romantic side in all of us.

What role does music play in "Eagle"?

Music in 'Eagle' is pivotal, enhancing both the exceptional fight scenes and the standout love track. The Poland episode showcases how music can elevate the overall experience, and the sound design effectively maintains an element of suspense.

Share your thoughts about the Background Score (BGM) in "Eagle."

The BGM in 'Eagle' is particularly compelling, and working on a Ravi Teja movie was challenging. However, I overcame any nervousness, especially with 'Eagle's On His Way,' marking the first total English track in Ravi Teja's career. 'Gallanthe,' the romantic song, is my personal favorite, and 'Aadu Macha' is a fan service song aimed at exciting the mass audience. The sound design intends to provide an edgy feel, and the inclusion of a refreshing female singer from the AR Rahman music school adds a unique touch. A fight sequence with a spiritual flavor and a Goddess' support to the hero's mission was a delightful experience in composing BGM.

What inspired you to become a music director?

I draw inspiration from renowned composers like AR Rahman, Anirudh, Thaman, and DSP. Music, to me, is evolutionary and a collaborative effort. While Indian musical styles have certain restrictions, Western music offers more freedom. In Indian cinema, the composer must align with the story, respecting the screenplay's mood across various genres like action, romance, and thrills.

What are your future projects?

I am collaborating with Karthik for another film, and there is another project under Trinadharao Nakkina. Two more projects are currently under discussion.
