It's a known fact that actor Vijay was set to act in his 65th movie directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sun pictures, and that the director was working on the script of the same. However now in an unexpected turn of events, Murugadoss seems to have opted out of the project.

Initially, Thalapathy 65 was supposed to be directed by Sudha Kongara and later Vetrimaaran's name was discussed as well, but as the director has movies with Soori, Suriya and Dhanush in pipeline, he couldn't take Vijay's movie immediately though the actor has given a nod.

As per reports, Murugadoss had written a political script for Thalapathy 65, which the production house Sun pictures didn't accept, following which he has opted out. Now talks are that Vetrimaaran might be directing Thalapathy 65 but in case he couldn't take up the project due to his previous commitments, Magizh Thirumeni might be signed to direct the project. An official clarification and announcement on Thalapathy 65 director is expected soon.
