Though Mumtaj has been called as the glamour girl in Kollywood, the actress wants to do variety roles and establish herself as a performing actress first.
She is pinning a lot of hopes on Veerasamy opposite T Rajendhar in which she plays a slum-girl. She is hoping that the movie would take her places.
Meanwhile she is assigned to play a super cop in director S A Chandrasekhar's new movie titled Nenjakootil Neeyae Nirkirai.
Mumtaj has been cast to play the role of an encounter specialist.
The actress is now attending classes at the Rifles Club everyday to get grasp of shooting.
She has reduced her weight considerably and is learning martial arts too.
Meanwhile, she has been cast opposite Kalabhavan Mani for a Malayalam movie too.
