A 40-year-old television actor has been booked by the Oshiwara police for allegedly raping his 58-year-old stepmother. The actor, whose identity is yet to be revealed, has also been accused of theft by the woman who claimed that he had stolen cash and jewellery from her house.

In her complaint, the woman said that her stepson had visited her house in the Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri (West), where she lives with the actor's father, and forced himself on her when he found that she was alone at that time. The 58-year-old also alleged that the man had stolen cash and jewellery from the cupboards. However, the police are also investigating an issue of property dispute between the actor and his stepmother, which might have a connection to the case.

"We are investigating whether the complaint was because of the property dispute between victim and her estranged husband and stepson. The dispute is about the flat in which the woman lives and four shops in Andheri. Investigations are on and only after verifying the allegations will we be able to arrest the accused," a senior inspector at the Oshiwara police station was quoted as saying by a news agency.

As of now, based on the 58-year-old woman's statement, a case of rape and theft have been registered against the accused under sections 376 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code.
