A man from Mumbai allegedly killed his friend, chopped his body into nearly 200 pieces, and flushed the pieces down the toilet of the latter’s residence.
Pintu Sharma (40) has been arrested on Wednesday after he was found guilty of murdering his friend Ganesh Kolatkar (53), who had been missing since January 16. His family had apparently lodged a missing complaint on Kolatkar when he failed to return home that night. Sharma had reportedly lent the victim a sum of Rs. 1 lakh for his business, but the man had only repaid Rs. 40,000. A brawl erupted between the two regarding this issue and ultimately led to the death of Kolatkar after he was pushed against the wall. Sharma, in order to hide the evidence, chopped up the victim’s body into hundreds of pieces over a period of four days, and flushed the flesh pieces down the toilet, while he removed the bones and threw them off the train he later travelled in. The body parts were recovered after the sewage system was reported to be blocked.
The accused has been arrested and booked under sections of the IPC relating to murder and causing the disappearance of evidence of the offense.
