A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the police after he allegedly blackmailed an actor's 21-year-old daughter using her private pictures.

The accused, identified as Qumail Hanif Patani, a resident of Malad in Mumbai, threatened to leak the private pictures of the actor's daughter online if she did not pay him money. The sister of the accused reportedly studied with the actor's daughter in the same college. "The accused sent the messages to the victim through social media and also immediately deleted them to erase his footprints. Qumail had threatened the actor's daughter to make her pictures viral. He then called the girl and demanded extortion," the police said, according to a report by a news agency. The girl decided to pay him Rs. 10000 - 15000, but when he demanded more money, she informed her parents about the ordeal. The actor registered a complaint at the Bangur Nagar police station and arrested the accused on Thursday.

According to the report, the accused has been booked under sections pertaining to outraging the modesty of woman and demanding extortion of the Indian Penal Code. The man has also been charged under the Information Technology Act.
