A 24-year-old man from Mumbai was arrested for attempting to push a woman under a train at the Khar railway station in the city. He allegedly did so as she had refused to marry him.
The incident happened in Mumbai after the woman, who resides in Khar, boarded a train from Andheri. The accused, identified as Sumedh Jadhav, tried to push the woman under an incoming train after she had refused his advances. "The two used to work in the same organisation in 2018. Jadhav tried to befriend her but was not successful. Later, the woman quit the job and joined another private firm," an official was quoted as saying by a news agency. CCTV footage of the incident revealed that the accused was moving towards the station as soon as the train reacheed the platform. While he initially pretended to jump in front of the train, he dragged the woman from the platform and attempted to push her in front of the moving vehicle.
The man ran off the spot when the other people on the station tried to get hold of him. "Twelve hours since the incident, he was taken into custody. He has been booked under section 307 of IPC for 'attempt to commit murder.' The victim has been discharged from hospital and is home," the official added.
