In a shocking incident, a man from the Jui-Kamothe village in Mumbai set his 37-year-old wife ablaze as she allegedly served him less quantity of mutton during dinner.

The accused, identified as 38-year-old Maruti Sarode, was reportedly in an inebriated state that night and got angry when his wife served him less mutton during dinner. In a fit of rage, he poured kerosene over her and set her ablaze. "The man got angry after his wife served less mutton in his plate while having dinner on the night of December 4. Maruti was in an inebriated condition when he set Pallavi (his wife) on fire after pouring kerosene on her. The neighbours rushed the woman to DY Patil Hospital in Nerul," the police reportedly said.

Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries a while later. Before she passed away, she informed the police in a statement that her husband was responsible for her murder. The accused has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
