With enormous advancements in the field of medicine, every day around the world somewhere news are made on startling medical feats and achievements. Our Indian doctors have made one such achievement.
A team comprising of six surgeons of Nair’s Hospital in Mumbai have managed to operate on a 31 year old man’s tumor and successfully remove it too. The fact which makes this all the more astonishing is that the tumour weighs an unbelieveable 1.87 kilo grams which according to doctors might be the largest extracted tumour globally.
Since a major blood loss during the surgery was predicted the doctors gave 11 bottles of blood to the patient to counter the loss. The patient was kept in an ICU for three days following the surgery and the happy news is that the said tumour hasn’t affected the brain. The patient Santlal Pal is a daily wage labourer who earns around just Rs.9000 a month.
