First patient to undergo plasma therapy dies in Mumbai!

In a setback which was unexpected, while convalescent plasma therapy with samples taken from people who have recovered from Coronavirus was approved by ICMR, now a patient in Maharashtra has passed away after plasma treatment.

A 53-year-old male patient who was the first person to undergo plasma therapy in Maharashtra, passed away on April 29, and this was announced officially by Dr Ravishankar, the CEO of Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai where he was admitted and was undergoing treatment.

Earlier, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that plasma therapy is being done on an experimental basis after approval given by Indian Council of Medical Research. Tope also said that they have witnessed good results on two patients who underwent plasma therapy.
