Multiple IT raids on Saravana stores

The big news emerging on Tuesday is of IT raids in Chennai. As many as 120 teams of the Income Tax department are today making searches at about 70 branches of Saravana stores in Chennai as well as Coimbatore.

Saravana's textile showrooms are the sleuths' first interest. The properties of Lotus Group, a realty company, are also being searched.

At the time of writing this report, the house of Saravana stores' owner, has come in for a raid. The searches are in connection with an alleged tax evasion complaint.

The IT officials were told about where all they should go only this morning. This is how searches happen every time.
