Former UP chief minister and Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav today shocked everyone by saying in Lok Sabha that he hopes Narendra Modi will retain power and becomes the Prime Minister once again. His party is in alliance with BSP in UP to oust the BJP.

Sonia Gandhi was sitting next to Yadav when he made the statements. He added that whenever he met Modi, he would get his work done immediately.

Reacting to the out-of-the-blue development, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said, "I disagree with him. But Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji has a role in politics and I respect his opinion."

Curiously, Yadav made a U-Turn as soon as he walked out of the Parliament. He has been quoted as saying that he didn't say anything of the sort that has been attributed to him.
