Meanwhile, refusing to rethink his decision, Mukesh Khanna opposed Ranveer Singh from enacting Shaktimaan after the completion of Don 3. Sony Pictures India officially announced that it supported the adaptation of Mukesh Khanna's 1997 musical, Shaktimaan, into the film featured and produced by Mukesh Khanna, as it was announced back in 2022.
The announcement came in November and set off the guessing game, with several reports claiming the celebrity superhero to be Ranveer Singh. Mukesh Khanna took to his social media handle and posted a video to rubbish the reports and take potshots at Ranveer Singh.
The producer put up a post on Instagram stating, "Ranveer as Shaktimaan has been doing the rounds for many months. Many felt upset, but I kept quiet. When channels announced Ranveer as their lead cast, I decided to speak." He said, "The one who can represent Shaktimaan, no matter what kind of famous person he is, made my decision.
Mukesh Khanna blasted Ranveer off social media and uploaded a YouTube clip in which Mukesh criticized the 'provocative' magazine photo shoot of Ranveer and the justifications of himself. He suggested that Ranveer play in countries that accept nudity.
Mukesh opined, "The actor to be Shaktimaan must be able to command respect through his words, because Shaktimaan is not only a superhero but also a guru."
It is said that next February, after Don 3, Ranveer is to start work on the Shaktimaan project. The script, written over three years, guarantees honoring Shaktimaan. Basil Joseph will direct it, while Sony Pictures and Sajid Nadiadwala will produce it. Mukesh Khanna's reactionary outburst is passionately committed to reinstating Shaktimaan as a cultural symbol.
