The teaser video for "Mufasa: The Lion King" came out on Monday, getting people excited about both the movie's plot and its cast.
Many of the actors who played roles in the 1994 classic "The Lion King" are back for the lifelike animated prequel. John Kani plays Rafiki, Seth Rogen plays Pumbaa, Billy Eichner plays Timon, Donald Glover plays Simba, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter plays Nala.
Beyonce's 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter has joined the lineup and will be singing Kiara, the daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala.
The trailer, which is narrated by Rafiki, sets the scene for the story by showing how Mufasa came to be as a cub without any royal family ties, ready to change the world.
"Mufasa: The Lion King" tells the story of Mufasa's life from when he was a lost cub until he meets Taka, a fellow lion who is the heir to a royal family's power. A group of outsiders are driven by their bond to find their fate, even though dangers are close at hand.
The movie has a great cast, with Kelvin Harrison Jr., Thandiwe Newton, Anika Noni Rose, and Keith David, among others. It was directed by Barry Jenkins.
"Mufasa: The Lion King" will be released in theaters for the first time on December 20.
