Social media buzzed with speculation about a heated exchange between Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake at the MTV Video Music Awards. A viral clip appeared to capture the two arguing backstage, with Megan getting her hair and makeup done while Timberlake and *NSYNC walked by. Brief words were exchanged, and Megan gestured in response.
However, the incident was not as it seemed. A source close to the situation clarified that Megan was excited to meet Timberlake for the first time, saying, "No, no, no, we’ve never met before." Entertainment Tonight also reported that Timberlake greeted Megan with, "It’s so nice to meet you," and Megan responded with, "No, no, this don’t count, this don’t count, we gotta meet properly."
Reps for the VMAs, Timberlake, and Megan have not commented on the incident.
Timberlake and the other *NSYNC members were at the awards as surprise presenters for the best pop prize. Nicki Minaj introduced the band and called their reunion an "iconic moment." Megan later took the stage with Cardi B to perform their new single, "Bongos." The apparent argument between Megan and Timberlake turned out to be a misunderstanding, with both artists expressing their excitement about the encounter.
