During a channels award function Mammootty said that M.T Vasudevan Nair is not like his guru but really his guru.

It all started when the presenter called Mammootty and veteran actor Madhu to the stage to felicitate M.T. Mammootty was bewildered and didn`t know what the reason was. Then the presented told that M.T. Vasudevan Nair the favorite writer of Malayalees has completed 50 years in his literary career.

Immediately Mammootty touched his feet and showed respects. He then asked for the mike and then started to speak. Mammootty then said that he grew as actor by memorizing and delivering his dialogues in front of the mirror. He was Ekalavyan and M. T was naturally his Guru.

M.T in his speech said that that he is so much overwhelmed with joy that he is feeling difficult to control his emotions. He said that during functions he tries his level best not to be emotional but here it is not possible. Mammootty`s good words have touched his heart.

During initial days of his career, Mammootty got a break in his career through M.T`s Devalokam` in which he got a prominent role.
