M.S. Dhoni in the recent BCCI contract list has been given the A category alongwith Ravichandran, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Murali Vijay, Ajinkye Rahane and Wriddhiman Saha.  Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Buvaneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumraah have been awarded the A plus category which pays them rupees 7 Crores a year.

While fans of Dhoni were mighty displeased by their icon coming in the second category reading that as a demotion.  However it has come to light that Dhoni himself suggested that he should be in the second category as he no longer plays tests.  The A plus is for the top performers who play all formats of cricket and if one does not show consistency will automatically slip down and another player will replace him. 

The B category has KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma and Dinesh Karthik.

 Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Karun Nair, Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel and Jayant Yadav form the C category. 

The Grade B category contracts are worth Rs three crore, while those in Grade C are of Rs one crore.
