Expectations
Every actor has few films which they would love to erase away from their career. Superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Dilip Kumar, Aamir Khan and many more have made some mistakes by doing certain kind of bad to terrible films. The distributors release these films only to make additional profit based on the name of their saleble star.
The recent one is 'Mr.Kabaadi', which is being sold as one of the last film of late Om Puri. There is no buzz nor any expectations related to this movie, except the fact that it has some good talented actors.
Story
'Mr.Kabaadi' is a story narrated by Channu Khan (Om Puri), who shares with us a tale related to Kallu Kabaadi (Anu Kapoor). Kallu and his wife Chando (Sarika) are rag pickers and local scrap dealers. One day Kallu's fate changes and he becomes a rich man. Kallu transforms himself into KK, but Chando along with her brother (Vinay Pathak) fails to leave the traits of their older times. Times fly and Kallu's son Chaman (Raj Beer Singh) expands his franchise of public toilets. Chaman wants to get married, but his profession of being an owner of public toilets ruins everything. Finally, Chaman meets the girl of his dreams whose father (Brijendra Kale) for his own reasons hates all scrap dealers.
The 'Glitz' Factor
The basic story line is interesting and has apt situations required for a situational comedy. The only good thing in this movie was Satish Kaushik's vocal narration followed by a couple of unintentional laughs and an interesting scene where the entire family is discussing about toilet business. Vinay Pathak and Brijendra Kale are good in their roles.
The 'Non-Glitz' Factor
The inconsistent screenplay, cluttered multiple stories and jarring direction works as a biggest negative point for the movie. Besides few minor positive points, there is absolutely nothing in this trashy film. The cuts are abrupt. The whole setup is tacky.
The story keeps wandering between various characters. The jokes are stale and outdated. Toilet humour is forced and terribly placed. There are many racist comments in this super stretched theme.
The cinematography is not up to the mark. The music of such films is forgettable and 'Mr.Kabaadi' is not such exception.
The director could have done wonders with this subject and the availability of some wonderful actors in this movie. The end product looks half-baked and a result of an inexperienced director. There is hardly any fun in this so called comical film.
Om Puri hardly has any scenes in this movie and all of them have been abruptly placed. Anu Kapoor hams to the fullest. Sarika's track is good, but fails to match up to her credentials.
Final 'Glitz'
'Mr.Kabaadi' is nothing but trash bin stuff which should have remained in cans forever.
