Movable/immovable properties worth several hundreds of crores belonging to the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD), the body which runs and maintains the Lord Venkateswara’s Temple at the holy Tirumala Hills at Tirupathi, are being digitized with the objective of protecting these properties from encroachment.
The world-renowned Tirupathi Temple is visited by several lakhs people/devotees on a daily basis. The offering given by devotees in the form of currency/jewel/objects runs in to a few crores per day. Besides, some devotees also donate lands in the form of their ‘offerings’ to the Lord.
4,143 acres of lands donated by the devotees are in control of the TTD which finds it tough to manage, protect and preserve the lands from encroachment. There is also the danger of the lands getting permanently encroached as the Temple administration doesn’t have a monitoring plan in progress.
In order to prevent this from happening, the TTD has commenced digitizing all the properties (movable and immovable) belonging to the temple by photographing them along with details of the properties. The work of digitization is expected to be completed by February next year.
