On Sunday evening, an avoidable tragedy had consumed a precious life. Mounika, a 24-year-old techie working for the TCS in Hyderabad, succumbed to a fatal injury minutes after a concrete chunk of wall plaster fell on her at the famous Ameerpet Metro station.

Mounika, who was married just two months back, was taking refuge under one of the pillars after deboarding the Metro train. Since the chunk of cement was sharp-edged and fell from a height, the victim couldn't survive the accident.

Hyderabadis are shocked at the incident. "Metro is the city's prestige. Just normal rain for a few hours has caused the collapse at a station that was built just recently. Tragedies like this affect the faith of patrons and residents. Who is accountable for this?" an angry resident asked.

Mounika's accidental death is a reminder that rains bring in their wake mishaps when civic authorities don't ensure quality, etc.
