Silent as ever, the film has mastered in all respects. More than a clear year since release, and the movie continues to make waves. 'Mouna Guru' starring Arulnidhi and Ineya was screened at the 10th Chennai International Film Festival, where is won a special mention. Jacob Wong, director of Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) watched the film, and invited the team of 'Mouna Guru' to take part in the prestigious Hong Kong Film Festival, in its 37th edition. The festival is held between 17th of March and 2nd of April this year.

Shanthakumar made his debut in direction with 'Mouna Guru' and is more than happy now, with the turn of events. Yet, modestly enough, he is currently working on a script for KE Gnanavelraja's production house. Apart from 'Mouna Guru', only two other movies were short listed from India, for the Hong Kong screening - 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and 'Gulab Gang'.
