Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman, known for his impressive performances in movies like The Shawshank Redemption, Se7en, Lucy, Oblivion, Bruce Almighty, besides an extraordinary act as Nelson Mandela in Invictus, has transformed his 124 acres ranch in Mississippi to a bee sanctuary, and has been growing bees since 2014.
Claiming himself to be the protector of bees, Morgan Freeman has recently said in a television interview that preserving bees can help develop and protect our environment. To increase the bee population, he had imported 26 different breeds of bees from Arkansas, and also makes sure he doesn't take honey from his farm.
Morgan Freeman said, "We must co-ordinate to take efforts to increase the bee population in our world, as it is getting slowly extinct. I grow trees from where Bees can take honey, and I also don't take honey out of my bee farm. My bees have never stung me. Between 2015-16, Bee population in the US had dipped by 44% and hence I started this initiative".
