DMK working president M.K. Stalin has alleged that more than 40,000 fake voters have been included (by the ruling party) in R.K. Nagar in Chennai, where by-polls are due to be held by the end of the year.
Stalin was speaking to newsmen in Chennai when he made the allegation. “We all know that R.K. Nagar by-poll was cancelled at the eleventh hour in April after the cash-for-vote scam (of the then EPS faction of AIADMK) to the tune of Rs.89 cores came to the fore. It was also reported in the pres that some incriminating documents were recovered by Income Tax authorities from Health Minister Vijayabhaskar’s place.
“Chief-minister Edapadi Palaniswami’s name figures in the list of those ‘entrusted’ by jailbird Dinakaran to disburse money to voters but no action has so far been taken; even a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, which is very agonizing. Thus, it is only practical for us to expect that by-polls in R.K. Nagar should be held only after bringing to book those who indulged in the cash-for-vote scam in April.
“We also came to know that more than 40,000 fake voters have been included in the electoral list in R.K. Nagar and we have submitted necessary documents to the authorities hoping for an early action in this regard,” Stalin concluded.
