Bollywood film "Girlfriend" was the target of more violence Tuesday, as protestors in Orissa objected to its theme of alternate sexuality.
At least 50 activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad (ABVP), the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), attacked the Keshari cinema hall here, tearing down and burning posters of the film.
They also shouted slogans, saying the film's theme of lesbianism was against Indian culture. Similar scenes were witnessed in Varanasi and Mumbai Monday.
The protestors withdrew after theatre owner assured them he would stop the screening.
"It will create a bad impact on the audience and misguide them, particularly the youth," ABVP leader Tatwadarshi Das said. "ABVP will not allow the movie to run in any state theatre."
Directed by Karan Razdan, "Girlfriend" features Ashish Chowdhry, Isha Koppikar and Amrita Arora in lead roles. The film was released Friday.
