The DTH premiere of Vishwaroopam has been creating a lot of problems for the film's release. The theater owners are continuing to let out their opposition for the film to be released through DTH approximately 8 hours before it's theater release.
Kamal's past deal, where, years back he received 4 crores from Saimira in the year 2008 as an advance for his Marmayogi which failed to release and he also refused to pay back the money is adding on to the current DTH problems faced by "Vishwaroopam". Sources convey that Regent Saimira has approached the Madras High Court to take steps to cease the release of Vishwaroopam for which the court has sent an order to Raj Kamal Films to which they need to respond before the 3rd of January.
On the other hand, The Tamil Nadu Theater Owner Association has said that none of Kamal Haasan's films would be released in theaters if he is to stand by his decision of releasing 'Vishwaroopam' through DTH. Panneerselvam, the secretary of TNTOA said, "The pirated CD and new films shown in television has taken a toll on audience attendance in theaters in Tamil Nadu which has come down to under 1000 now and once a step like DTH becomes precedent, there would not be any theaters in future."
