Alex Pina is the creator of the worldwide hit web series, 'Money Heist/ La Casa De Papel', on Netflix. It is a Spanish originated heist crime drama show that emerged as one of the most-watched topics on the streaming giant. Earlier, we informed you that Netflix is currently working on a Korean remake of the popular show.
Now, the latest hot news is that Álex Pina has extended his stay with the global streamer a little longer. The renewed deal between the creator and the streamer includes his new high-concept series inspired by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Netflix has green-lit this untitled show that is set in a luxurious underground bunker.
The upcoming project is based on a Spanish newspaper article about rich Spaniards purchasing bunkers in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Talking about the new series, the creator said, "Some of the new shelters that were being built were luxury homes in the subsoil. Up to 15 floors down, with exclusive services, such as cinema, pool, spa, gym and common gardens, with water and food to survive more than five years."
"An underground community for 75 people. And then we thought about what life would be like there. Social, family and romantic relationships, in an underground shelter to which they had hastily and exclusively fled," Álex added. Pina is also developing the Money Heist spin-off Berlin, a prequel focused on the back-story of Pedro Alonso's character from the original series. Berlin is set to premiere on Netflix in 2023.
