IV Sasi, the legendary Malayalam filmmaker, on Tuesday morning, breathed his last. If making 150 films in his illustrious career spanning about 35 years puts him in the similar space of our own late Dasari Narayana Rao, then Sasi is Mollywood's 'Darsaka Ratna' for sure.

Described as a path-breaking filmmaker who learned and heralded several technical advancements, Sasi won several state awards. Dabbling in a range of genres, he directed some Hindi films, too. His film 'Avalude Raavukal', which told the story of a teen sex worker, is a highly acclaimed adult movie.

Besides shaping the career of Mammootty and Mohanlal (who would become a superstar later), he also has the distinction of directing Superstar Rajinikanth's debut Malayalam movie. He worked with Kamal Haasan as well.

He was born in 1948. IndiaGlitz condoles Sasi's death. May he attain 'Sadgati'.
