Mollywood mourn the demise of director-writer Dennis Joseph

The demise of Mollywood's renowned filmmaker and screenwriter Dennis Joseph came as a shock for the entire film industry. The 64-year-old hitmaker died of a cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Kottayam on Monday evening.
Dennis had played a vital role in shaping the acting career of Mammootty and Mohanlal. The veteran had scripted several superhits for the stars during the 80s and 90s. Thus, Dennis and the stars share a very special bond. The superstars took to their social media pages and paid tributes to their dearest friend.
“As I write this for my dearest Dennis, memories start to flow and blocking my hands. Dennis was a king in the world of the screenplay. I was lucky to play many characters created by this king. Dennis greeted all with a calm smile and loved all without expecting anything. I cannot express my bond with him in words. So concluding it in midway, tributes to Dennis,” wrote Mohanlal sharing alongside a throwback picture with the veteran. Meanwhile, Mammootty wrote, "I am deeply heartbroken with the sudden demise of Dennis Joseph. He was a good friend who supported me like a brother during my growth and desperate times. But now he is no more there for me. He will be remembered for his great works. Rest in Peace."
Dennis entered the movie industry as a screenwriter with the 1985 movie Eeran Sandhya. He had penned some of the biggest ever blockbuster in Malayalam cinema including Nirakkoottu, Rajavinte Makan, Shyama, New Delhi, No. 20 Madras Mail, Kottayam Kunjachan, Akashadoothu, Palayam, and FIR.
Having worked with almost every superhit filmmaker and top actor in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Dennish had also directed 5 movies - Agrajan, Thudar Katha, Appu, Adharvam, and Manu Uncle. His directorial Manu Uncle starring Mammootty in the lead role won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film. Dennis Joseph last penned the Priyadarshan film Geethanjali, which had Mohanlal in the lead. A year ago, Dennis hit the headlines after it was announced that he will be penning the script for director Omar Lulu's next.
