According to the latest reports, Malayalam actors have expressed their willingness to cut down their remuneration by 50 percent as demanded by the producers’ association in view of the financial crisis due to COVID-19 outbreak. The decision was taken at the Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (A.M.M.A) executive meeting held yesterday.
However, the meeting was dispersed midway, as the place where the was identified as a containment zone, the officials directed to close the hotel where the association summoned the meeting. “When we booked the hall, the area had not been declared as a containment zone. The COVID situation is getting worse and once the police informed us that the hotel is also a paid quarantine facility, we did not hold the meeting,” said Idavela Babu, general secretary, A.M.M.A.
As the meeting was interrupted, A.M.M.A is yet to confirm the decisions.
