Former Karnataka chief-minister and former Union Miniser Veerappa Moily, who is also one of the senior-most Congress leaders from the State, has stated that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has passed the ‘leadership test’ with flying colours.
Moily was referring to Congress’ thumping victory in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh from where it unseated incumbent BJP governments and wrested power from BJP’s control. Moily, however, chose to neglect Congress-TDP combine’s ‘no-show’ in Telangana where it was beaten out of sight by TRS and Congress losing power in Mizoram to MNF.
Speaking to newsmen in Hyderabad yesterday, Moily said that the Assembly poll results indicated that people had become fed up of the four-and-a-half year rule of NDA led by the BJP. “Congress’ victory signifies the fact that people have started reposing their faith back in the Congress; this victory would stand the party in good stead during next year’s Parliamentary elections,” he exuded confidence.
“People are fed up with the autocratic style of Modi-led BJP Govt. and have indicated amply that they don’t vote for the BJP brand of ‘hate’ politics. By leading Congress to victory, Rahul Gandhi has thus passed the acid test of leadership,” Moily lauded.
