Actor Mohanlal and director VA Shrikumar Menon had announced that they are teaming up with veteran writer MT Vasudevan Nair for a Rs 1000 Crore budget movie titled Randamoozham, one of the most notable works that MT has written. The story is a version of the Mahabharata from the perspective of epic hero Bheema.
However, the film did not happen even three years after the movie was announced. MT has handed over the screenplay of 'Randamoozham' four years ago but the director failed to complete the movie within the time specified in the agreement. In 2019, the veteran backed out of the project and also expressed his disinterest to proceed with the film. Following this, MT approached the court to stop Shrikumar from doing the film.
When Shrikumar made a plea for the arbitrator in the court, MT Vasudevan Nair responded that he was not interested to proceed, and would like the script back. Now, the latest is that the duo has come for a settlement just ahead of the Supreme Court considering the case.
Reportedly, the director will now have to return the script to MT, who will have complete rights for the story. Shrikumar will no longer have the rights to make Randamoozham. Also, MT will have to return the advance amount of Rs 1.23 crore which he had got as advance from Shrikumar.
