Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham aka Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea, one of the most anticipated films of actor Mohanlal, has got a release date. Directed by Priyadarshan, the epic movie is scheduled to have a worldwide theatrical release on May 13. Mohanlal, who plays the titular role in the film, took to Twitter to announce the release date of the movie. "#MarakkarLionoftheArabianSea releasing Worldwide on May 13, 2021," Mohanlal captioned.

The historical war film is set in the 16th century and chronicles the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, a Malayali naval chieftain. Mohanlal appears as a decorated commander in Zamorin’s naval force while his son Pranav Mohanlal, plays the younger version of the superstar.Produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, 'Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea' also stars Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, Arjun, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Mukesh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Siddique, and Nedumudi Venu.

Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly’s highly anticipated film has also been confirmed for theatrical release on May 13 during the Eid holidays. Directed by Rajeev Ravi, the movie is produced by Sukumar Thekkeppat of Mini Studio. Fahadh Faasil's film Malik is also likely to release on May 13 as an Eid special release.
