Mohanlal-Priyadarshan's ambitious movie ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ was all set for a grand release on August 12, ahead of Onam. The much-hyped movie was originally scheduled to hit theatres on March 26, 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic had delayed the plan. And now, though several states are set to reopen movie theatres from the first week of August, after a considerable dip in COVID-19 infections, uncertainty continues in the state of Kerala. Due to this, the makers of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, are awaiting the government's decision to finally announce the release.
While several movies had been released on OTT platform, the makers of Marakkar had confirmed that the magnum opus will release only in theatres no matter how much it would get delayed. As the National Award Winning movie's release was postponed multiple times, the audiences have pinned high hopes on the epic drama.
Set in the 16th century, the movie has Mohanlal playing the titular role of Kunjali Marakkar IV. The epic film also stars Manju Warrier, Sunil Shetty, Keerthy Suresh, Arjun Sarja, Suhasini, Prabhu, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Mukesh, Pranav Mohanlal, and Kalyani Priyadarshan in important roles. The multi-starrer movie had bagged the National Award for the best feature film in 2019 besides awards for best special effects and best costume design.
