After a long wait of two years, Mollywood's much-awaited ambitious movie 'Marakka: Arabikadalinte Simham' is all set to hit the theatres on December 3. Releasing in over 4100 screens, the makers have planned a grand release worldwide in 5 languages and will have nearly 16,000 shows each day. The movie has officially entered the 100 crore club even before its release through pre-bookings. It is claimed that ‘Marakkar’ is the first Indian film to have entered the Rs 100 crore club with the pre-booking reservations alone.
The big-budget movie revolves around the life and times of Kunhali Marakkar, the famous naval chieftain of the Zamorin of Calicut, who had defended against the Portuguese invasion in the 16th century. Written and directed by Priyadarshan and Produced by Antony Perumbavoor Under the Banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, the upcoming Pan India project also stars Pranav Mohanlal, Arjun, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Suhasini, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Fazil, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Ashok Selvan, and others.
Music is by Ronnie Raphael while Thiru is the cinematographer and Aiyappan Nair M.S is the editor. Even before the grand release in India, at the 67th National Film Awards, the film won three awards- Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume Design.
