Mohanlal's National Award-winning ambitious movie 'Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham', helmed by Priyadarshan has finally got a release date. Ever since the lockdown was announced, there has been uncertainty over the release of the magnum opus as the makers were eyeing only for theatrical release. The film was originally scheduled to release on March 26, 2020, but was postponed multiple times owing to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Much to the surprise of many, the makers of the movie on Friday announced the release date of the flick.
Taking to his social media handle, actor Mohanlal unveiled a brand new poster of the movie and announced that the film will hit the theaters on August 12, as an Onam treat. "With love and a mind full of hope, we plan to bring 'Marakkar-Arabikadalinte Simham' on August 12 as an Onam release. We move ahead with the belief that we have your prayers and blessings," Mohanlal wrote. The announcement comes days after Kerala government lifted the lockdown.
'Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham' features Mohanlal in the historical character Kunjali Marakkar IV aka Mohammed Ali, the naval commander of the Samoothiri. Jointly scripted by the director Priyadarshan and Ani Sasi, the period drama, will also feature Mohanlal's son Pranav Mohanlal as well as actors Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier and Keerthy Suresh in important roles.
