The Kunjali Marakkar show which was shown for the National Games held recently has won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award held at New Delhi for the best visual effects. The show was directed by TK Rajeev Kumar. Mohanlal had played the title character as Kunjali Marakkar.

It should be noted that the the Kunjali Marakkar show won the award ahead of movies like 'Mary Kom' which was a biopic of the boxer Mary Kom and Rajanikanth starrer 'Kochadiyaan'. The show was mired in much controversy and heat with Mohanlal's act, especially his Lalisom band getting the brickbats.
