Mohanlal tops the charts

Mohanlal emerged the winner of the Asianet-Ujala awards announced for the year 2006 recently.

Lal Jose's Classmates was chosen for the award of the best movie. Mohanlal's performance as a senior military officer in Keerthi Chakra won him the rare honour.

Padmapriya, who is emerging as the numero uno actress in Kerala, won the award for the best actress for her role in movies including Karutha Pakshikal and Vadakkumnathan.

Innocent, whose comedy in Rasathantram and Yes Your Honour was appreciated, was chosen as the best comedian. Raveendran was picked as the best music composer for his tunes in Vadakkumnathan.

Tamil actor Jeeva, who made his debut in Malayalam with Keerthi Chakra, won the award for the best lead pair along with Gopika.
