According to the latest buzz, Mollywood superstar Mohanlal is playing wrestling Champion The Great Gama in the upcoming Lijo Jose Pellisery directorial 'Malaikottai Valiban'. Gulam Muhammad Baksh Bhatt, who is known by his ring name The Great Gama took Indian wrestling to International heights and was unbeatable for nearly 50 years.
It was recently the makers of 'Malaikottai Valiban' released the title of the film and had indeed generated a huge buzz around the project. The shooting of the film started at Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer on January 18th this year. After the location stills surfaced online, rumours started doing the rounds that the movie was set in the 1900s during the British rule and the actor will the appearing the Great Gama.
For the unversed, Gulam Muhammad Baksh Bhatt was born into a family of wrestlers in Kashmir who later came to be known as wrestling champion Gama. Reportedly, Gama had ruled Godha without any competition for over 50 years in the field and had also rescued a lot of Hindus suck in Lahore and transported them to India by using his own money during the partition period.
While the news of Mohanlal playing the Gama had excited the moviegoers in a recent interview with an online portal, the movie's producer Shibu Baby John has dismissed the reports. Shibu said they were mere rumours that were a creation of people's fantasies.
Helmed by the director Lijo Jose Pellissery, ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ is touted to be a period-action drama movie penned by the writer PS Rafeeque. Apart from Mohanlal, ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ also features the actors Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Hariprashanth Varma, and Suchithra Nair in pivotal roles.
