The titans of Mollwood, Mohanlal and Mammootty have always been projected by fans as arch rivals. The truth is just the opposite, they share a great camaraderie. There is no doubt both the stars are the tops actors in the country.

During the 80s and 90s both the stars acted together in many films. The fans celebrated those movies and it was a hit at the box office. P.G Viswambaran, I.V.Sasi, Padmarajan, Sajan, K.S. Sethumadhavan brought these stars together through their films.

Mohanlal recently spoke about whether they had competition among themselves. He said there was no competition among them during this period. They had acted together in 54 films, in these films they might have had competed each other in acting, other than that there was no other competition.

He added that Mohanlal and Mammootty were different entities in films who stood apart with their own identity. The roles acted by Mammootty were different were different from what he acted, said Mohanlal. So we didn`t need to compete for each other`s roles. For example in Tamil, Rajanikanth and Kamal Haassan, they had their own style. Likewise here we both take up a character through a different outlook.
