Ooty is one of the locations where Mohanlal and Priyadarshan has created many magical movies. Movies like 'Kilukkam', 'Chitram', and 'Midhunam' were all shot in locations at Ooty. The duo have teamed up yet again for 'Oppam' and the shoot has been wrapped up.

Mohanlal wanted some kind of a tribute to the place and he took them to the location where they shot for the first time in Ooty. The location was School Manth where they had shot a song sequence "Pon Veene" for 'Thalavattam' nearly 30 years ago. Priyadarshan has recreated the scene from the song and shot with the same lens they used to shoot "Pon Veene". Priyadarshan says that though all of them has changed, the trees and the slopes remains the same. This time, Mohanlal has recreated the scene with Baby Meenakshi, which was in 'Thalavattam' done by Lissy.
