In the wake of the financial crisis caused by COVID-19, the Mollywood Film Producers’ Association had requested all the actors and technicians to take up the salary challenge by reducing their pay by half in their future films. FEFKA, a consortium of technicians and AMMA, the organization of film artists, had even agreed to it.
Well, the latest is that a few actors are not willing to reduce their remunerations, due to which the producers association have not given approval to their two projects. Including Mohanlal's Drishyam, the executive committee had recently examined the details regarding the production cost of 11 new movies and found that two actors have demanded more remuneration that what they had been charging before the pandemic.
The committee found out that an actor whose remuneration was Rs 45 lakh has asked for Rs 50 lakh and the one who had been working for Rs 75 lakh has demanded Rs 1 crore. The association is enquiring the same with the producers of the respective films. It is reported that Tovino Thomas and Joju George are the actors who are charging more now amid pandemic.
It may be noted that Mohanlal stayed true to his words by charging 50% less than what he had been charging before the Covid times.
